During a diverse aircraft engineering career encompassing general aviation and the airlines, which includes histories as Chief Engineer and Quality Assurance Manager, Martyn has a wealth of knowledge and practical experience from a Cessna 150 to a Boeing 747 and Robinson R22 to Eurocopter EC155. Qualifications include a New Zealand Licensed Aircraft Maintenance Engineers License (LAME), gained 1991, New Zealand Commercial Pilots License (CPL) and Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) gained also 1991. In 2001 Martyn was approved and accredited with an FAA Inspection Authorization (IA).
In 2002 he attended an initial Designee Standardization Seminar with the FAA given in Oklahoma City, this has allowed him to be acceptable and qualified as a Designated Airworthiness Representative - Maintenance (DAR-T) when required. Appointment was granted on June 30, 2004 and Martyn is only one of approximately thirteen DAR's currently located outside of the USA. Martyn looks forward to an increasing role with the FAA, the privileges involved and the additional functions he can perform.
He is available to assist, support and certify any USA registered aircraft within the Western and South Pacific regions or world-wide as required.
Martyn will provide a professional, expeditious, quality and value service. This may include FAA Special Flight (ferry) Permits, Standard and Export Certificate of Airworthiness issue, and change of 'N' registration for all fixed and rotary wing aircraft. He prides himself to deliver a 'one stop' service with no nasty come backs as commonly experienced with some short term thinking customers -’Do it once…..do it right with no complications or grief’
Some of Martyn's previous and current customers include Eurocopter, Cessna, Cirrus, Robinson, Pratt & Whitney Canada, Hawker Pacific, Aeromil Pacific, Execujet, Jet Aviation, Britten-Norman, Tag Aviation and a host of individual customers. Acquiring and maintaining a long term customer relationship is extremely important to him and will do his utmost to maintain the 'kiwi can-do' attitude. The ease of intenational travel and little requirement for travelling visa's, can be a massive advantage for any last minute certification needs. Martyn is 'on call' or as required.
In addition to extensive FAA DAR experience to date, Martyn has also been appointed in 2010 as a Bermuda Department Of Civil Aviation - Designated Airworthiness Inspector; BDCA DAI. With vast aviation and certification knowledge he continues to add to his portfolio and offer on going and professional support to the aviation industry.
